The Central DeKalb Senior Center (CDSC) is for DeKalb County Residents, age 62 and older, who are active and independent. The role of the CDSC is to provide programs, services, and activities that promote health, wellness, social interaction, community engagement, education, and independence. Participants and the CDSC staff will work together to create a true sense of community.
At the CDSC, we strive to provide a welcoming environment that promotes acceptance, appreciation, and inclusion of all people which is reflective of DeKalb’s diverse population. Our commitment to embracing diversity will help to enrich the experience of all those participating.
The mission of DeKalb County’s Office of Senior Affairs, to include the CDSC, is to enhance the well-being of the senior population by optimizing services on behalf of mature adults and their families. The vision is to create programs to meet the evolving needs of the population, use accessible and responsive service systems, treat its citizens with dignity and respect, and provide excellent customer service.
The underlying principle of CDSC’s programs and services is that of optimal aging. The purpose of the Central DeKalb Senior Center is to provide a welcoming environment where participants can engage, participate, connect, and enhance their quality of life. Our goals are to encourage independence, support community involvement, and simply be a place for people to enjoy.
