The valedictory speech is perhaps one of the most treasured, but daunting traditions associated with the rite of passage that is High School Graduation. We can forget just how intimidating it must be for a 18 year old student (even an outstanding one) to attempt to deliver “words of wisdom” to their peers and their parents.
As someone pressed into public speaking on a regular basis, I’m sympathetic to these students, who at a time of liberation, must pass one more test. It’s therefore a delight to share an instance when the student really nails it. Take a moment to listen to Sabina’s high school journey, distilled to a walk she made day after day to school. I think you’ll agree that with young people like her emerging into our society as new dreamers, leaders, and doers there’s great hope for the future.
