The Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) is installing a new state-of-the-art system, called Georgia DRIVES, to upgrade and modernize the vehicle registration and titling system. The new Georgia DRIVES system is the first update in 20 years, and will enable more self-service options, improve customer service, and enhance data integrity.

In preparation for the statewide system upgrade, DeKalb County Motor Vehicle services will be offline and unavailable for a brief period. Beginning Thursday, May 23, vehicle services will be closed in preparation for the system upgrade. Implementation of the new system will require the vehicle registrations and titling services to be unavailable May 23rd – May 28th. Tax payers are encouraged to complete all vehicle registrations and titling in advance of expiration dates and prior to the system upgrade timing.

We are also encouraging tax payers to take advantage of our 5 Tag Renewal Kiosks conveniently located at Kroger locations near them (see insert attached). These kiosks provide tax payers almost 24-hour customer access to renew up to 10 tags on the spot! However, the kiosks will also be included in the upgrade, so the push is to ACT NOW, RENEW EARLY! Tax payers with May and June birthdays can renew now…60 days prior to their birthday.
