We all know about the historic importance of the upcoming November 3 general and special election, where Americans will decide on our President, Vice President, Congressional House members, and in Georgia, TWO Senate members, and long list of State and County officials.  The “Special Election” is to fill the Senate unexpired term – two years remaining –  of Johnny Isaakson.  That race is called a “jungle primary”, and there will be 20 names on the ballot! Please make your plan to vote early, either by absentee ballot, or early in person.  We need to be respectful of our friends and neighbors who are DeKalb election workers and spread out the work load for the anticipated exceptional voter turnout as much as possible.

Thank you to those who have already requested your absentee/paper ballots – they will start being mailed this week, so you should be on the lookout over the next 10 days.

Absentee Ballot On-Line Request: For those of you still making your plan to vote, the Secretary of State has created a NEW on-line portal, where you can safely and securely request your absentee/paper ballot.  Voter Protection assures us that this portal is effective and using it saves a few steps.    So if you have access to a computer, and a GA Driver’s license or Voter ID, please do this TODAYRequest Absentee Ballot

If you do not have access to a computer, DeKalb Registration and Elections office will be mailing an Absentee Ballot Request form in the next week to DeKalb voters, and you can fill out and mail your ballot application.

Ballot Drop Boxes: If you vote by absentee/paper ballot, we encourage you not to mail your ballot – please take your completed ballot to a DeKalb County Drop Box.  Here are the current locations, and there will be more coming soon!  : Drop Box in DeKalb

My Voter Page:  You can check on the status of your absentee ballot – when your application is received, when your ballot is mailed, when your ballot is received – on theMy Voter Page.

If you want to vote in person, PLEASE VOTE EARLY.  Early in person voting begins October 12 and ends October 30.  DeKalb Elections is finalizing the locations and dates and we will publish these as we get closer to October 12.
